Lieberman: I will not sit with Meretz in a coalition

Yisrael Beyteinu chairman Avigdor Lieberman announced yesterday that he has no intention of sitting in a coalition with the dovish Meretz party. Combined with Kulanu chairman Kahlon’s announcement that he doesn’t see Abu Mazen as a peace partner, this severely hampers Labor chairman Isaac Herzog’s chances of forming a Labor led, left-leaning coalition.

Lieberman did not rule out a unity government. If Yisrael Beyteinu and Kulanu receive enough votes, they may force the Likud and Labor to sit in a unity government, something neither party seems interested in at the moment.
