The Communist Arab-Jewish political party Hadash held their primary election this Shabbat and elected Iman Odeh, a party activist from Haifa, to lead them in the upcoming election. Odeh will take over from Muhammad Bracha, who resigned from politics shortly before the vote.
What this means for Hadash is unclear. There has been speculation for months that the Arab parties will unite to avoid being locked out of the Knesset following the raising of the electoral threshold (from 2% to 3.25%). However, the parties are still debating how this joint list would look and have not finalized any mergers as of yet.Source (Hebrew): http://www.ynet.co.il/articles/0,7340,L-4615967,00.html
