Arab parties poised to unite

The three “Arab” parties (Balad, Hadash and Ra’am-Tal) are working on creating a joint party for the upcoming election.  While the idea has been discussed for years, the new electoral threshold was moved from 2% to 3.25%, making it urgent that they merge in order that no votes are wasted.

On the heels of the announcement, a new poll finds that 80% of Arabs are in favor of a unified Arab party. Traditionally, electoral turnout is lower amongst the Arab sector and some hope the unification will  help with Arab “get out the vote”campaigns.
