Trajtenberg joins Labor, will receive spot via Livni

Manuel Trajtenberg has decided to join the Labor party’s list for the upcoming election.

As part of the merger between Tzipi Livni’s Hatenua and Labor, it was agreed that Livni would have five spots on the list which she could choose outside of the primary system, plus an additional one in consultation with Isaac Herzog. It appears Trajtenberg will occupy one of those slots, though it is unknown which slot at this time.

An economist by training, Trajtenberg gained fame in 2011 during the cost-of-living protests when he led a committee that made recommendations to lower the cost of living for Israelis.
