The Likud high court today threw out the results of the party referendum that allowed Netanyahu to choose the 11th and 23rd members of the Likud list. In addition, the court threw out the decision to move up the primary date to coincide with the date of the election of the party chairperson.
Netanyahu apparently “won” this vote last week at the Likud central committee but an appeal was launched by Moshe Feiglin claiming that the decision required a 2/3rds majority to approve and it fell slightly short of that threshold. The Likud high court accepted this argument, meaning the primaries will once again be Jan 6th. Feiglin is also running for Likud party chairperson and is seen as Netanyahu’s main rival for control of the Likud.Source (Hebrew): http://www.nrg.co.il/online/1/ART2/658/803.html?hp=1&cat=404&loc=2
